Spalted Beech Vessel

Holts Shop

£ 190.00

A spalted beech vessel hand turned by Richard Chapman, featuring rimmed aperture approximately 45 mm in diameter to the top.

Approximately 21 cms high.

Note:
Spalted timber is usually found in trees of the 'acer' family - Birch, Sycamore etc.  When felled or damaged the dead timber is infested with fungus spores carried in the air.  In warm damp conditions the fungus spreads through the timber very quickly resulting in black lines that can be very dramatic in what is plain timber.
